Jon D. Herbst

Mr. Herbst was a Principal at Key Principal Partners from its initial year in 1998 to 2007.   While there, he sourced, structured, and managed  subordinated debt and equity investments across a wide range of industries including construction, packaging, EMS, steel, and aerospace/defense.  Mr. Herbst had previous private equity experience with Canterbury Capital and the Barclays Bank mezzanine group, BZW Mezzanine.  While at Barclays, Mr. Herbst was also involved in senior loan restructurings and in analyzing debtor-in-possession transactions.  In total, Mr. Herbst has twenty years of business experience, with fourteen years in private equity.

Mr. Herbst received his M.A. in Economics from New York University and his B.A. in Economics from Emory University.

 

Samir D. Desai

Mr. Desai currently acts in an advisory role at Superior Street Partners.   Mr. Desai was a Vice President at Key Principal Partners from 2001 to 2007.   While there, he spent the majority of his time sourcing and structuring transactions, maintaining contact with referral sources, and handling the general marketing function for the firm.  Previously he was with North American Funds ("NAF"), a Chicago based private equity fund focused on acquiring small, privately-held businesses.  At NAF, Mr. Desai was involved in sourcing and structuring of new transactions, maintaining relationships with lenders and working with the existing portfolio companies.  Mr. Desai has a total of 17 years of business experience. 

Mr. Desai received his B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois and an M.B.A from the University of Chicago.  Mr. Desai also sits on the Board of Trustees of The Covenant, a not-for-profit, as the audit committee chair.
